UMMAGUMMA
Tour

Throughout 1969 and into 1970 Pink Floyd wrote and recorded More, Ummagumma, Zabriskie Point, Moonhead (for the NASA moon landing BBC special) while continuing their tour, starting and doing their The Man & The Journey tour, continuing with their previous tour, then starting in on AHM recording then touring.

During this time new songs were worked out in TM&TJ concerts and later became part of the More, Ummagumma, and ZP albums. Some of the songs from their 1969 albums cycled through their tour set then were dropped.

Although there was no tour as such for Ummagumma, some of the album's songs were played both before and after the album's release. The pre-album songs were being worked out on stage in their shows - most notably in The Man and The Journey shows. As the songs were being 'fine tuned' on stage, their names, lyrics and music varied from the studio release.

Two weeks after the "More Furious Madness from the Massed Gadgets of Auximenes" concert, the live album for Ummagumma was recorded at:

   Mother's Club, Birmingham April 27, 1969
Manchester College of Commerce- May 2, 1969

It is interesting to note that the back of the Ummagumma LP states that the shows were recorded in June.

With three albums released in 1969, the band cycled some of the new material through their setlists.

Besides the alternate versions of Grantchester Meadows, Narrow Way Pt 3, being played in The Man and The Journey concerts, the band did include two Ummagumma pieces in a few shows. These apparently didn't work out to the band's satisfaction, because they were soon dropped.
