Gathering of Developers Convention

Los Angeles, CA – On Friday, May 14th and Saturday, May 15th 1999 Volume 9.9, a two night interactive audio-visual concert event envisioned by Marc Brickman, the legendary lighting designer of Pink Floyd fame, will take place at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium at 1855 Main Street in Santa Monica from 6:00pm – 1:00am. Pre-sale tickets are available for $27 through TicketMaster (213-480-3232, www.ticketmaster.com) or $30 at the door. The public can call 323-993-3340 for information.

Brickman’s vision is being realized and empowered by the premier high-end software consortium Gathering of Developers (www.godgames.com) and realtime game gurus Gamespy (www.gamespy.com). It is a celebration of all things digital at the end of the week-long E3 convention (www.e3expo.com) in Los Angeles at the LA Convention Center. E3 is the largest gamer’s convention now in its 5th year. Some 65,000 participants are expected this year. Gathering of Developers will host their own location across from the convention center called The Promised Lot where they will showcase their wares. Gene Simmons from KISS and their game KISS Psycho Circus will be in attendance with a myriad of other special guests throughout the conference.

This is not a party, it’s a paradigm shift! Volume 9.9 (www.godgames.com/e3/os99.asp) is high definition interactive entertainment for the 21st Century. Never before has a visual artist of Brickman’s stature helmed a multimedia event of this magnitude, in fact, he will create a 180 degree visual arc utilizing the latest in projections, lasers and the only Sony LED screen (JumboTron) in existence. Additionally there will be four SiN virtual reality games, four SiN arcade machines and 8-12 computers for a gaming tournament. This idea of Volume 9.9 as an operating system combines the audience with the set, the performers and the visual environment. Brickman who has been developing this operating system for over two years (and a lifetime of experience) hopes to bring Volume 9.9 to the world as the future model of concert touring.
